DOG FOOD RECALL update

There seems to be a lot of residual fear and rumors circulating about dog food recalls.  Rightly so, since 226 certified deaths of pets were attributed to toxic ingredients within the foods, mostly imported from China.  While unofficial consumer reports suggest as many as 1,950 cats and 2,200 dogs died after eating contaminated food.

dog food recallWhile most of the toxic foods were recalled from store shelves, you may have a ticking time bomb in your own cabinets since the expiration dates on many of the dog food brands were stamped to expire in 2009.

Settlement Reached in Tainted Pet Food Case

Diamond Pet Foods will pay $3.1 million to pet owners nationwide who lost pets because of the company’s contaminated food. Alfatoxin, a deadly fungus that can cause severe liver damage, was found on some of their products in 2005.  See the news story HERE.
