There seems to be a lot of residual fear and rumors circulating about dog food recalls.  Rightly so, since 226 certified deaths of pets were attributed to toxic ingredients within the foods, mostly imported from China.  While unofficial consumer reports suggest as many as 1,950 cats and 2,200 dogs died after eating contaminated food.

While most of the toxic foods were recalled from store shelves, you may have a ticking time bomb in your own cabinets since the expiration dates on many of the dog food brands were stamped to expire in 2009.
